Let me introduce a good friend of mine....I call her Lissy. Sometimes she's happy and sometimes, well, she needs a friend. I have met many people in this world and when it comes to the simple quality of appreciation, she tops them all. Every day I am reminded about this, she calls to tell me about people she meets. No matter how high or low she gets, she finds a way to come to the surface, and breath the air of thankfulness and gratitude.

Lissy has 3 beautiful children, 2 are fully grown adults and 1 is still in school. She has a devoted husband that has been a rock and anchor for the family. Recently, we'll call him 'Dave', for reasons unknown to me and this family, Dave has had to take a lot of time off. He has seen a doctor and hopes to get better, but can only manage short work assignments for the time being. One could determine the his stress capacity is limited to a 3 on the usual scale of 10. Dave walks and talks like before ...he can only function though at a lower stress level. In the meantime, Lissy, his wife, our dear North Vancouver mom, is fighting for the survival of her family... with all her might. Our Ministry of Social Services is lacking something, when they can not see this family needs and deserves help. They had made it so humiliating for them, they had to reach for their friends for help. This family is trying to turn their back to the past and move into the future with new resolve. If it were up to them, the province would have little or nothing to do with their situation. Systematically, they are selling what they don't need and making personal sacrifices when and where they can. I tell you this because I am so impressed with their efforts to make ends meet. I too have a large family and can only imagine how my wife might respond to a medical mystery (were it happen to me).

As a business person and recycler an opportunity came my way a couple of months ago to distribute several thousand copies of Life in Beauty, a wonderful 2 hour read by Kate Porter. Having been in contact with my North Vancouver friends, I thought of them first as they could really use a helping hand. Lissy has taken this gift and found a way through the SPIRIT of recycling, to share the story and benefit her family. If you know of a group or organization that could also benefit from the distribution of the book let me know. We still have many more to distribute and this North Vancouver family is willing to deliver the book in how ever many number requested...there are about 15 boxes (40 per box) left. April 26th 2010 is the date on this blog. Hopefully....the books will be circulated by the end of May 2010. Aeron Jensan
